I just love the solace of the beach on a summer weekend.... and the little bit of hustle in getting ready for the crowds.
I love how Chicago turns into a beach city in the summer! We've not had a lot of warm weather this year so far, so this past Sunday was a delight.
After an amazing weekend with my childhood friends, Sunday started with the gloom of them leaving along with laundry/cleaning the house... so I decided to head to the beach to enjoy the warmth and relax with a book.
This was my view for about 2 hours. I had to capture a plane as there were several that flew over during my time there - I can only imagine seeing the view from the plane of many beach goers enjoying one of the first warm days!
My quick sojourn this morning was to see and capture the scene of Bike the Drive this morning.
One of the things I love the most about this event is how quiet it is, with no cars whizzing by. The only other time I've experienced this same feeling was during a blizzard.
I snapped a few of the cyclists, but when I walked down to the beach and saw this, I knew this was my shot.

I was fortunate to explore Buzios in Brazil with my sister this past weekend. The views were incredible - a mix between tropical and European. On Sunday, we decided to take it in all by boat. A three hour sojourn full of beauty and fun - it was hard to focus in how to capture this day.
All done with my i-Phone 6 (I decided to leave the Canon behind), I was able to capture the sweeping views with the "pano" setting. I settled on this one as it shows a little taste of the day.... a boat similar to the one we rode and the beautiful beaches, mountains and water - this pretty much sums up the moments we experienced on the boat. (And with no enhancement!)
I think these pictures will speak for themselves…. Let's just say, I was so grateful to have these views to capture this past weekend!

Not phased by the recent storm there were many people on the beach including both the lifeguard and guy in the row boat in bright orange. (BTW, that water in the front is completely rain water!)
I loved how the beach was still full of activity….
I've been traveling a lot lately, which means I've missed the transformation of my beach (Foster Beach on Lake Michigan) from spring to summer… boats for rental and lifeguard chairs come out and the beach is manicured regularly, welcoming first footprints in the sand. I look forward to it every year!
I set out to capture it - that which I described above. The scene was just that - I snapped away getting every element. The perfect sand, the boats ready for passengers and the life guard chairs ready to be filled. It was a perfect, quiet moment at the beach….
Except for the activity of one family who were setting up for what seemed to be their first beach day of the year. I just loved watching this family take in their first beach moments and especially loved watching this father take his son to the water.
I've broken a few photography rules with this photo, but I just couldn't resist sharing this moment with you.

Another beautiful morning on the Lake.
In April, I had the awesome opportunity to photograph my friends Tif and Ozzie's beautiful wedding in Charleston.
When I had some down time, I of course gallivanted around, taking a few pictures of the gorgeous city and beaches.
